  American Bald Eagle

Late March/ early April has seen an unusual concentration of large raptors coming into stock at Wild Art. Along with the more common Tawny and Barn Owls, Kingfishers and Woodpeckers, have come a large adult European Eagle Owl, possibly a wild bird from the european mainland, a Great Grey Owl and a pair of magnificent American Bald Eagles. Declared the United States of America's national emblem in 1782, the Bald Eagle's range stretches from Alaska to Florida - eating mainly fish, generally the weak and the dying, this Eagle is more scavenger than hunter.
