  Red Squirrel

Two Red Squirrels have been brought to Wild Art during the last few months, very differently coloured - the first a dark red-brown indvidual from the Lake District, the second a light ginger-red from Scotland - both areas of the country where the Red retains a foothold. Whether caused by the Grey Squirrel's direct competition for winter forage, or by the virus carried by the latter, the Red Squirrel continues to decline in number, no longer as 'common' as its Latin name suggests.
