Common Barn Owl (tyto alba)

A particularly large and well-feathered individual, this adult female spent some time on display at "The Owl Barn" at Stonham St Aspel's British Bird of Prey Centre in Suffolk. It has been estimated that approximately 5,000 Barn Owls die each year on this country's roads. According to the Hawk & Owl Trust, the current UK population is no more than 4,000 pairs.
