Short-eared Owl asio flammeus
Much in common with the Hen Harrier, sharing territory and hunting habits, the Short-eared Owl's UK population is estimated at 1,000 plus pairs. The bird photographed, a dark-plumaged adult male, was a winter-time North Cambridgeshire road casualty, so possibly a Continental migrant.
