Common Barn Owl (tyto alba) Another road casualty, prepared for the person who picked up the bird from the roadside. With adult birds weighing 10 to 13 oz plus - the males at the lower end of the scale - it is no wonder that such light, large winged birds are blown over by passing traffic. The Barn Owl Trust has recently taken the problem to national level, calling on the government to look more closely at road-building plans where these birds nest and breed. |
